I love how much President Nelson has stressed the importance of us knowing that we are children of God. That is the most important label that we can give ourselves and everyone around us. President Nelson said, “If the Lord were speaking to you directly, the first thing He would make sure you understand is your true identity.” Why is this so important? I feel that in the world today there are so many things that Satan has done to try to divide everyone.  As long as Satan can divide us, there cannot be peace. There cannot be love. If everyone could just understand that one common denominator, that we are ALL His children, everyone would treat each other differently. In that one statement, there is nothing to divide us. We are all God’s children, which makes us all brothers and sisters. If you were able to see all those around you with these eyes, would it change the way you see them? Would it change the way you think about them? Would it change the way you see yourself? Would it change the way you think about yourself? President Nelson also taught, “The way you think about who you really are affects almost every decision you will ever make.” As you go about your daily lives this week, try and remember that you and all those around you are children of God, no matter their circumstance. See if it changes how you view a certain situation. When we can see ourselves and others in this way, we are opening ourselves up to be better disciples of Christ. And being a better disciple of Christ will ultimately bring us closer to Him.
